So sorry to hear this. Sending positive thoughts his way & hope his recovery goes well. Was the Truck Driver cited for causing the accident?

I know many view Attorneys with disdain but seek out the best possible to represent your Son in this matter if you haven't already. With the grievous injuries he has suffered and a family to support, the responsible Party and their Insurance Carrier need to be held fully accountable...

Sorry to hear this Garry. I hope and pray he makes a full (as full as can be under the circumstances) recovery. As Skyliner said, keep us informed of his progress. Glad to hear you have sought legal advice. The sooner you get in the more likely you are to get the best litigator. I managed this, at my father's insistance within a week of my wife and our then 2 children being involved in a near fatal (for my wife) car crash in '86.

He's stronger than me...I would have requested a gun to put to my head...he's amazing in his mental outlook. Already wants me to build a bike with an air shifter for him! Progress is already fantastic! Thanks for everyone's support. I share all of the good thoughts with him every day...He's so grateful....makes me cry.

A positive attitude may well be more than half the battle won. I saw it when my wife was in rehab after her car crash, and in the last 2 years as a former workmate is going through rehab after having his back broken in a bike stack after a young bloke pulled out in front of him at night, having already stopped to give way in a 100 km/h zone.

He's really doing well. While I would have asked for a gun to put myself out of my misery, he's exceeding all expectations of his Dr's, therapists etc. We were told he'd be in the hospital for a month, in a rehab facility for another month to 6 weeks. Now they're saying with his mental strength, his physical strength and his positive outlook, he may be able to go home in another 3-4 weeks! Months of out-patient therapy to follow, but probably up on a prosthesis by the new year!

He's home! Almost a full month earlier than anticipated. He is pushing himself every day! They are saying he should be up and walking on his "new" leg by the first of the New Year! The only thing that has slowed him down is that pesky fucked up left hand and wrist. He can't use a walker very well, but has gone 400' with the damned thing, hopping on one foot and resting his left arm in a thing...attached to the walker.

He's already pestering me to get a bike fixed up for him to ride. He asked for a suicide shifter to be made from his leg brace parts...titanium stuff...the Dr. actually gave them to me! I said no way...there's a reason they call it a suicide shifter! I'm going to put an air/electronic shifter on whatever he decides he wants.

Thanks for your support folks! Even though he doesn't know you like I do, he does appreciate it when I tell him you're thinking and praying for him!

Ay-May-Zing! And I'm glad to hear he is exceeding the doctors expectations. We have our own family health drama going on right now. Will continue to keep you and yours in our thoughts and prayers.
My wife and I are in Brisbane to help my Mum because my 86yo Dad had a fall 3 weeks ago followed by a stroke that he wasn't expected to survive. Thankfully he survived and the retirement village they live in had a new nursing home bed come available on your independence day.

Thanks for asking...He just got the pins out of his left hand and wrist last week. Stump is healing up well and looks as if he will begin to "shape the stump" soon for a prosthetic. He's getting off of the hard painkillers slowly and with only a bit of discomfort. He's a trooper, now becoming very bored with just sitting and waiting. Prognosis is that he will be up and walking by the first of the new year.

Thanks for asking! He's doing great. Worked his ass off in PT and OT. Got his prosthetic 2 months earlier than projected due to his burning desire to get on with life! Went back to work 12 December on a part time basis. Still doing PT and OT, but is now walking with a cane! Everyone is amazed, not sure where his resolve comes from. His mom and I are in awe. (Mom has some moments about her "baby", he'll be 53 in a couple of weeks being hurt, that thing about he was born with all his fingers and toes...) His wife kicks his butt and supports him, we love her to death.

Again, thanks for asking.
