Hi, I am a new member from Northampton, MA. My Transalp came off Craigslist but I quickly determined that it was the same bike bought off the showroom floor by a friend back in 1994! It must be the 20th+ motorcycle I have owned but quickly it became a top favorite. I've since added a Hawk brake kit and a Motech skid plate. It came with the Givi bags which is great! I've since added a Hawk front brake and a Motech skid plate and Givi Crash bars.

Here it is on one of the many dirt roads in Western MA.

Pic isn’t showing up. But I’ve seen your moonstone tan bike before. I love your color. Did you buy your bike from a dude In southington CT? If so I missed that bike, I tried to buy it but I was too late.

Neat coincident acquiring your friends bike 20 some years on. I bet it's as good now as it was then as they just seem to get better with age. Enjoy and happy travels.

When I called about that bike I said: "I am an adult with a truck to come and get the bike, cash, and my wife's permission to buy it" We also had a conversation about the Transalp and I stated I was looking for a Transalp, not just any ADV or DP bike. So, he knew I was serious.

Greetings taxonomy and welcome to the forum. Have fun with the inmates and enjoy the ride.
[edit]By the way, what inspired you to pick that name for the forum? I had to look up the meaning, (classification of organisms) as Biology is not one of my strong suits.[edit]

I️ sold my xr350 to that guys brother.
I️ had carpel tunnel surgery on my throttle hand the week I saw that bike. I️ just missed it because I️ couldn’t load the bike. But look what I ended up with with. Well sort of Image btw, it is a small world. You and I went riding at October mountain this year. I️ was on the CRF250X. Let’s get the TAs together before it’s cold

Re:taxonomy

Taxonomy is a method of classifying things by words. It's used in many fields, not just biology. Honda Transalp is a kind of taxonomy

Motorcycles:
Of all Hondas it is a Transalp

Animals
domestic cat
Felis Catus felis=cat family catus=common house cat
Of all felis it is Catus

People
Donald J. Trump
Of all the Trump family it is Donald, if there is more than one Donald it middle name J.

I'm a librarian, so I use taxonomies a lot. I use that name on many forums, it's easily remembered by me and not usually taken by someone else.

Joe: can't wait to get our TAs out there! Come to the TA rally next year!

Well there you go. I did wonder about whether it might be used in other fields etc. The example meaning I found stipulated biology, so I went with that. Like many words I've read it somewhere before but never taken the time to check the meaning before I forgot it again.
As a taxonomist I make a great train driver.
