Just picked up my first TransAlp.
Previous owner purchased it in 1990.
660 original miles.
It's as clean as my 2016 Africa Twin !

Should I ride it and enjoy it? or put it on display in my living room?

WOW....You lucky, lucky man...but would you be so lucky if the bike became an arm chair in the living room when asking the Mrs to sit on it and watch the television..my other halfs mates mates husband took his bike to Australia whem emigrating ! and mounted it up the wall like a picture in their living room...and he's survived. It might be worth a fortune later if kept as it is...probably one of a kind on the planet......

Very nice bike and a wonderful conundrum, I would ride it on nice days but not in the mud - no reason you can't do both.

My 1700 mile TA now has 3300 miles in four years of ownership but my two workhorse TA's have added about 10K miles each in the same time period.

If you have a new Africa Twin and an early Transalp 600 with sweet FA miles on it, then ride the arse off the Africa T and store and admire the Transalp. Winner, winner chicken dinner!

Sweet. If it were mine I'd ride it.
