I have a 93 transalp and had Motad Desert crash bars fitted to my bike fairly easy to fit which stood up to a 30mph impact into a car and saved me loosing my leg. Sadly these are no longer made so you have to do LOT's of hunting for them. My next set is coming from Germany at VAST expense but a good pair will save you ALOT of grief. Also if you go off road they will save you lots on bodywork costs when you drop it.
There is plenty of choice out there for crash bars. But at the end of the day you get what you pay for. |

Has anyone in their right mind tried to make some, I'd like to be able to hang lights under the top bar.....I know it's a cruiser thing, but the more light, the better. I got some fog/driving lights for a GS650 and can't find anyplace to mount them, nothing is flat enough, so I thouth some crash bars might do the trick, but wow, those are expensive, I think I could have some heavy duty ones made at a local machine shop. Any thoughts? Bill _________________ The right way is the path least taken! |

From my experience, getting things made up by local fabricators works out to be more expensive than "off the shelf" stuff.
That's my findings, anyway.
